Needs

Alright, I have looked into the situation at Needs.  It turns out that there rules are justified. I was asking around the city about it and it turns out that Needs has had a lot of merchandise stolen by teenagers (they know this because they are caught before they leave).  They have their limits because they do not want any more products stolen.  It may seem unfair, but it is justified.  At least we now know that Needs is not prejudicial against teenagers, they just took action to prevent crime.

Stereotype Examples

Here are even more examples of stereotypes we have received from our surveys:
  1. ``At needs, shoulder bags have to be removed at the door, hoods have to be taken down, and there is a limit to `people` entering at a time``
  2. `` I`m mis-judged by people because of the people I hang around with``
  3. ``... I`ve only ever shoplifted one time a long time ago, yet I`m followed in stores all the time.``
  4. `` Walking through the stores and everyone starring at you because they think you are stealing.``
  5. ``I was wearing my hood up on my black sweater. I asked why, was glared at, and was left unanswered.``
  6. ``More than once I`ve been called a drug dealer or hoodlum because how I dress, and my long hair for a boy.``
  7. ``I went into a pizza place with some friends and some adults came in, looked at us and went to the opposite side of the room.``
Surprisingly, I still have many more examples of stereotypes.  It seems to me that Needs should be investigated now.  I have seen more than a few examples of stereotypes about them.

Data Crunching

Alright,  I have been given more surveys to crunch.  Here are the results:  46 people have stolen something before, 77 have never.  Also, 18 students have been convicted of a crime as to 99 have not.

Useful Information

I was recently told that one of the English groups that are working on the documentaries is doing it on litter.  If so, we have useful information for you and have it all tallied up.  If you want it, tell me the name of your blog and I will send all data, or I will post it later.

Stereotype Examples

Here are a few examples of stereotypes we got from our surveys:

  1. "People look at me and see 'Dope head'  Previous mistakes have made high school a not-so-nice  place to be."
  2. "Every time I go into a store, everyone just assumes I am going to steal stuff."
  3. "Yes, I have been called some pretty mean names from people  I don't know because of the group of friends I have."
  4. "Adults think all teens are bad, I always get dirty looks while walking through the mall."
Some of these examples are bad, but I have MANY more examples that are from real people, hopefully this problem can be brought to attention.

Data Crunching

Okay, on Thursday, we handed out 250 surveys to about 13 different home rooms, we received about half of the surveys, and had to tally the surveys which took FOREVER!!!!!!   Anyways, according to our data, 45 people have stole something before ,while  46 haven't!  Also, 17 people have been convicted of a crime, while 74 people haven't.

First Interview

We recently had an interview with the principle of our school, it went pretty well.  It turns out that he doesn't believe in the stereotypes on teens and believes that if you were to get to know a teen, you would see that they aren't that horrible.  The video for the interview will be posted later.

Started

This Blog is made for a documentary in school. We are trying to bring awareness to the unjust stereotypes against teens.  By the end of the project, we will have a full length documentary made.
